Silver Bullet's Ranger Scanner Software Now Available
with Epson's Check 21-Ready Inkjet Printers
Banks to Take Advantage of Combined Imaging Solutions for Greater Savings, Increased Productivity
Las Vegas, NV, November 16, 2004 - Today at the BAI show, Silver Bullet, a leader in check scanning
applications and development tools, announced that its Ranger Transport API™ product is now available
with Epson's TM-J9000/9100 banking inkjet printers. The combined solution enables banks to capitalize
on tremendous cost-saving advantages of the Check Clearing for the 21st Century Act (Check 21) by
improving document handling, storing, sharing, and processing procedures.
"In our rapidly changing industry, bankers need options," said Bryan Clark, chief executive officer
of Silver Bullet. "Ranger allows them to mix and match hardware and software solutions to best fit
changing requirements. Bankers can also reduce the risk of having their images rejected by paying
banks by using Ranger's powerful ANSI/FSTC compliant Image Quality Analysis (IQA) software."
As the industry standard, Silver Bullet's Ranger software allows customers to use virtually any item
processing software with virtually any check scanning hardware. The inclusion of Ranger with Epson's
TM-J9000/9100 allows banks to upgrade to the new Epson inkjet printers without replacing their current
software solution. With the Epson printers, tellers scan images of checks and ID cards at the point of
presentment, allowing banks to take advantage of technology complying with the Check 21 and USA Patriot
Act legislation.
"End-to-end Check 21-compliant banking solutions are especially essential to banks today," said Bud
Weist, Vice President, Epson System Device Group. "Silver Bullet's Ranger Software, running on Epson's
Check 21-ready printers, allows banks to take advantage of the legislation's inherent cost savings, and
branches run more efficiently and effectively."
Epson's TM-J9000/9100 offers fast, quiet receipt and form printing with drop-in validation. The
drop-in auto-feeder allows tellers to scan up to 25 checks at a time, and a patented check sensor
virtually eliminates the risk of double check feeding. By enabling banks to digitally capture account
holder identification at the teller station via an integrated ID scanner, the TM-J9000/9100 helps
banks comply with the USA Patriot Act, while allowing banks to use stored ID information to detect
check fraud faster, increasing recovery rates on bad checks and minimizing the costs associated with
prosecuting fraud.
