Silver Bullet Check Image Quality
Software to Be Used In Banking Industry Study
PENSACOLA, Fl., June 16, 2005--Today Silver Bullet Technology announced that its
check Image Quality Analysis (IQA) software will be used by the Financial Services
Technology Consortium (FSTC) in their Image Quality and Usability Assurance Phase
Two study. Silver Bullet's IQA software is a standard part of its Ranger Check
21 toolkit. Ranger allows banks to mix and match check scanning software and hardware
to suit their needs. Over 25,000 copies of Ranger have been purchased to date.
Silver Bullet's Ranger IQA software is one of several software packages that will
be used by FSTC to measure the frequency and severity of check image defects. The
FSTC first phase of testing involved rigorous accuracy testing against a set of FSTC
test images. "The FSTC staff and members have done a wonderful job of creating a
detailed accuracy testing process. Since many of the test images have multiple
problems, such as too light, skewed, folded corners, the accuracy test is a good
stress-test of our IQA software," said Joe Dean, VP of Product Development at
Silver Bullet Technology. The second phase of testing will involve running the
IQA software on millions of check images.
"In a Check 21 world checks can be destroyed after the check images have been
captured. As an industry, it is critical to verify that the check images are
acceptable before the paper checks are destroyed. Since our Ranger software is
present on thousands of check scanners, we will detect many check image quality
problems at the source. Of course it makes good sense to test the image quality
at the check scanner. It is much easier to correct an image quality problem when
you still have the paper check in your hand," said Bryan Clark, CEO of Silver
Bullet Technology, Inc.
